KN Iti 29: body and mind dichotomy, jhāna samādhi context

guarding the sense doors, is part of right effort. And right effort is active in all four jhānas (see MN 78 ) Here in this sutta, the Buddha contrasts between the sukha that is physical (kāya) and mental (cetasa). So there's plenty of precedent where the Buddha is very explicit in differentiating physical and mental sukha. In the 3rd jhāna formula, when he explicitly says the sukha is physical, it's using the same kind of terminology he does here. So for modern day  Bhikkhus such as Ajahn Brahm, Sujato, Brahmāli, etc., to claim that 3rd jhāna kāya (physical body) is actually a mental or metaphorical "body",  you can't help but wonder what kind of gullible followers buy that line of reasoning. And what will it take for people to wake up? 29 - KN Iti 29 Sukha-vihāra: Living in Happiness 29 Sukha-vihāra sutta Living in Happiness VuttaƱhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ: This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: th...
