AN 5.191 Buddha using wrong + harsh speech, or just expects people to have a proper sense of humor?

(99% + B. Sujato translation) AN 5.191 Soṇa: Dogs “PaƱcime, bhikkhave, porāṇā brāhmaṇadhammā etarahi sunakhesu sandissanti, no brāhmaṇesu. “monks, these five traditions of the brahmins are seen these days among dogs, but not among brahmins. Katame paƱca? What five? 5.191.1 - (past brahmins had sex only with brahmin) Pubbe sudaṃ, bhikkhave, brāhmaṇā brāhmaṇiṃyeva gacchanti, no abrāhmaṇiṃ. In the past brahmins had sex only with brahmin women, not with others. Etarahi, bhikkhave, brāhmaṇā brāhmaṇimpi gacchanti, abrāhmaṇimpi gacchanti. These days brahmins have sex with both brahmin women and others. Etarahi, bhikkhave, sunakhā sunakhiṃyeva gacchanti, no asunakhiṃ. But these days dogs have sex only with female dogs, not with other species. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, paį¹hamo porāṇo brāhmaṇadhammo etarahi sunakhesu sandissati, no brāhmaṇesu. This is the first tradition of the brahmins seen these days among dogs, but not among brahmins. 5.191.2 - (past brahmins had sex just during fertile period of mont...

illustrated: sound is a thorn in 4 jhānas

That blue pushpin is the thorn.  The bubble represents the physical body of the meditator in any of the Buddha's EBT 4 jhānas. The pin (thorn) may just annoy and cause pain but leave the body intact, causing the jhāna to be impure with micro moments of distraction. Or the pin (sound thorn) may be strong enough to pop the bubble - meditator is agitated with annoyance is no longer in 4 jhānas.    This is VRJ and BRJ, Vism. and Ajahn Brahm redefinition of "jhāna" as a disembodied mental paralysis. Since the mind is disconnected from the 5 senses and hearing,  the pushpin (sound as a thorn) can not enter the awareness of the meditator inside the VRJ "jhāna". The meditator in this state can not feel leg pain, mosquito bites either.

upekkha also means indifference, boredom in some contexts. How does boredom lead to awakening?

šŸ›†šŸ‘ Upekkha = equanimous-observation 1. as awakening factor  7šŸ›†šŸ‘  : doing vipassana to awaken ( SN  46.3 ), is exactly the same as (#2) upekkha in 4 jhānas. 2. in four jhānas ( 4jšŸŒ•  ) doing vipassana ( AN  3.102 ). 3. in  5šŸ‘‘abi️  as in  MN  152 , one can infer, is also the same as the above, since for one to be an awakened noble, one would need a minimum of first jhāna, obtained via  7sb☀️  . 4. in brahma-vihāra  4bv☮️  , for an ariya, would share attributes with all of the above. As part of 4bv, one would energetically pervade in all directions (of desired radius). upekkha that could be sensed by other beings as a palpable peaceful radiation, similar to how seeing someone smile can make you smile. 5. upekkha of 5 indriya/vedana ( SN  48.37 ) corresponds to 3rd and 4th jhāna. The 4 jhānas are the progressive pacification (passaddhi-sambojjhanga) of these 5 indriya/vedana ( SN  36.11 ). 6. Upekkha of u...
