divine messenger paid me a visit: 44,444: ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€,๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€

I was doing my weekly grocery shopping and a very strange thing happened.

The errand takes about 10 miles driving round trip in my car.

On the way home, getting on the freeway from the street, there's a protected left turn that always has a long generous time for the green light going onto the freeway.

For some reason, the light turned red very quickly, so I had to stop at the intersection for an unsually long time.

I never look at the odometer on my car, since I don't have any reason to.

But for some reason, something compelled to glance at it.

The total miles on the car was 44, 447.

Almost a perfect string of number '4' across the whole line.

Since the round trip for the errand takes about 10 miles, that means during this trip I had passed through 44,444.

Normally, when I see the number 4, the first thing I think of is the four noble truths.

For some reason, this time I thought of how the number 4, in chinese, is nearly a homonym with the same pronunciation as the Chinese word for death:

(the numeral) 4 = sรฌ

death = ๆญป = sรฌ

So my odometer was a divine messenger reminding me that this never ending onslaught of birth after death after death is dukkha:

44,444 = ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€,๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€

So what's the significance of 44,447 the actual number showing on my odometer?

The last digit 7, is a reminder that the only way out of this vicious cycle of samsara, is the 7 awakening factors.

๐Ÿ’€ is also a reminder to practice marana-s-sati

7☀️  awakening factors.

My thoughts on Dalai Lama kissing boy, and the solution

HHDL = His holiness, the Dalai Lama I've collected good references here, including the actual video, and snippets from forums discussions containing valid critcism and explanations of cultural context, and most importantly, what the rules of the actual vinaya that buddhist monks are supposed to follow: 1min. video: Dalai Lama kissing boy and asking him to suck his tongue At the time of this writing, HHDL is about 88 years old. He has an exemplary record devoting his life to compassionate service to all living beings,  as a Tibetan Buddhist monk. In this age of 'me too',  everyone with a cell phone with high resolution cameras, and the ability to quickly publicize any indiscretion or sexual crime, we've seen sexual predators in positions of power being exposed and convicted. Leaders of large corporations,  governments, professional sports, doctors, leaders in all religions. Tibetan Buddhism has an especially poor track record with corrupt sexual predators. https://thewal...

Explanation from B. Thanissaro regarding Ajahn Mun biography section where he has conversations with (living) Buddhas

Ajahn Mun Bio, account of conversation with Buddhas excerpt from p.172 Venerable รƒcariya Mun Bhรฝridatta Thera: A Spiritual Biography by รƒcariya Mahรฃ Boowa ร‘รฃรตasampanno.   http://www.forestdhamma.org/ebooks/english/pdf/Acariya_Mun__A_Spiritual_Biography.pdf On the nights subsequent to รƒcariya Mun’s attainment of vimutti, a number of Buddhas, accompanied by their Arahant disciples, came to congratulate him on his vimuttidhamma. One night, a certain Buddha, accompanied by tens of thousands of Arahant disciples, came to visit; the next night, he was visited by another Buddha who was accompanied by hundreds of thousands of Arahant disciples. Each night a different Buddha came to express his appreciation, accompanied by a different number of Arahant disciples. รƒcariya Mun stated that the number of accompanying Arahant disciples varied according to each Buddha’s relative accumulation of merit – a factor that differed from one Buddha to the next. Many critics cite that passa...
