all occurrences of: upaparikkhati, closely related to upekkha, a jhana factor of 3rd and 4th jhana

* KN Iti 94 upaparikkha: since it's talking about experientially realizing the destruction of dukkha, this must be the same upekkha that's in 3rd and 4th jhana.
* MN 38 is maha-kaccana's commentary on that same terse verse of KN Iti 94

Perhaps the difference between upekkha and upaparikkhati is like the difference between vitakka and pari-vitakka

upaparikkhati: investigates; examines. (upa + pari + ikkh + a)

Gr. 16] "looking on", hedonic neutrality or indifference, zero point between joy & sorrow (Cpd. 66) disinterestedness, neutral feeling, equanimity.
